DOING THE HORALTIC THING!

I chanced upon this amazing sight last week. This bird had his wings spread like this for minutes!  I think it is a turkey vulture (?) which doesn't sound as magnificant as he was!  This is called the HORALTIC POSE, which this bird does for a variety of reasons; to dry the wings, to bake bacteria off the wings, to pose for photos! There were two smaller, possibly female or juvenile turkey vultures in another tree nearby who didn't seem to be nearly as impressed as I was!
